Whispers Among the Trees

Whispers Among the Trees is a series of drawings, paintings, and mixed media pieces, but it’s also a multidisciplinary art project (spanning visual art, music, and writing) that finds beauty, whimsy, and wisdom in connecting with nature and contemplating the mysteries of existence.
Whispers Among the Trees explores the idea that for all we don't know, the mysteries of existence, and all the pain we do know, there is beauty, awe, and wonder to be found in nature, in our bittersweet world.
The first step of creating this series was writing down a dialogue of imagined conversations between a woodland fairy named Existence and a strange human (sweet child of the universe). The human turns toward nature to ask her questions about life, to find a way to heal, to try to make sense of the trauma and abuse she survived.
This piece of writing also incorporates lyrics from my 2025 album and musical performance titled, A wildflower grows from the cracks in the sidewalk. Including 11 original songs and 1 spoken word poem set to guitar strums, this album embraces the voice as a medium of pure vulnerability, emotional expression, connection to the mysticism of the natural world, and healing. The album and accompanying outdoor performance is interconnected with this body of work.
The visual art series includes over 50 ink and colored pencil drawings, collages, paintings, drawings on fabric, and 3D pieces.
