Let’s work together: Commission a portrait

It is super cheesy but I 100 bajillion percent believe that the eyes are the window to the soul. When I create portraits, I am extremely attentive to facial expressions, to a person’s essence and spirit. My technical skills in drawing work in concert with my intuition and connection to emotion as a highly sensitive person.

Portraits can be extremely emotional and meaningful so this is something I want to do for you! This is why I offer sliding scale pricing for portrait commissions.

Of course, I also spend many, many hours of my time on each portrait commission. It is my absolute PLEASURE to offer flexible pricing for these meaningful projects. At the same time, I am trusting you to be honest about what you can afford.

That goes in both directions. If a certain price point is going to break the bank for you, please tell me! My art really does come from the heart and I want this to be a positive, comfortable experience for you. And if you can afford to pay my standard prices (view my shop for ideas - I price almost exclusively based on size) plus a markup for commissions because they are more time-consuming, it goes a long way in funding my livelihood, my art practice, my Chicken Doodle Soup newsletter and blog about healing which I offer free of charge to everyone, music creation, etc.

That being said, I love working on pieces that speak to your soul, that bring an extra dose of beauty, meaning, and care to your life.

Help me continue to do that by requesting a portrait commission today.

The story of Shelley’s portrait commission …

Say hello to the lovely Shelley, who commissioned a remembrance portrait of her beautiful mom, Katrina. To work on this pencil drawing, Shelley sent me a photo of her mom and asked me to incorporate butterflies coming toward her. During our first consultation, I made a rough sketch so we could agree upon the composition of the portrait. We also discussed materials such as what size paper I’d use, and the medium (in this case, pencil drawing). As I worked on this portrait, I put a special focus on capturing the love that comes through the sparkle in Katrina’s eyes.

Seeing Shelley’s reaction to the portrait really touched my heart. I feel grateful that she trusted me to create this portrait of her mom and this beautiful spirit lives on in Shelley.
